Third Party Pharmacies

While we understand your desire to fill a prescription medication elsewhere (such as Chewy, Amazon, etc), we no longer accept requests from third party pharmacies. If you’d like to fill a prescription with a pharmacy other than us, you will be given a written prescription. This form can be picked up from our clinic and may incur a $25 fee.

There are several reasons why we have chosen to support this policy:
  • The staff at Wildwood want to ensure safe medications for our patients. Third party pharmacies have had numerous issues with medications including selling counterfeits, selling medication past expiration date, improperly storing or shipping medications, and selling medications that were not purchased straight from the manufacturer.
  • Third party pharmacies have filled prescriptions with the incorrect dose or incorrect medication. Medications have also been filled without veterinarian authorization.
  • Filling third party prescriptions is taking our staff away for patient care. It takes time to review medical records and approve prescriptions. With third party pharmacies, there is also the added time of taking the multiple emails, faxes, and phone calls we get from the pharmacies. Many times we end up having to resend approvals multiple times before the pharmacy will fill it. All of this takes time away for our patients that are in the clinic needing our care.

  • When filling through a third party pharmacy, it is harder for us to track refills and monitor rechecks. This decreases our ability to provide the level of care we would like for your pet.
  • When ordering online, please consider that pharmaceutical products may be marketed through third-party sites and unverified vendors. If you like the convenience of ordering online, we recommend ordering directly from our associated pharmacy. If you’d like to order from a pharmacy other than ours, please use local reputable pharmacies.
